The following does are actively being used in my breeding
program,
a few of them are still showing when their condition is good.
Please note that some of my older show does have also had
litters, but are not listed in this area because it is not their primary
use.

Bayou
Black
Sr. Doe
Winnings:
13 legs of G.C.

|
Bayou has a beautiful body on her, very round and full.
Her markings are all pretty nice except a little uneven on the cheeks,
but that hasn't stopped her on the show table. She was Best of Breed
winner out of over 300 Dutch at the 2009 Midwest Fall Classic. A very
exciting win for me. Bayou has had a couple of litters, but she will
continue to be shown as long as she keeps coming back into condition!

Freya
Black Sr. Doe
Winnings: 13
legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record or show record
|
Freya is a sharp looking doe with an awesome coat on her.
She has nice type with full, round hindquarters. Her cheeks are high and
she has a dirty neck, but she has still done quite well on the show table
- including a Best in Show win. I have started using her for breeding, but
she is another one that keeps finding her way back onto the show table!

Hume's
Lena
Black Sr. Doe
Winnings:
3 legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record or show
record
|
Lena is a compact-bodied doe with good type and
markings. She was never
shown as a junior because I needed seniors to show when she was
only 5 months old. When she was very young, she had an abscess
on her chest
that I thought healed up nicely. Low and behold, one day as a
senior I noticed she has a black spot on her chest. So her show
career is over, but motherhood is her calling, she is a great producer!
Even though she is one of the oldest rabbits in my barn, she always has one
of the nicest coats of fur!

Big Bertha
Black
Sr. Doe
Winnings:
1 leg of G.C.

|
Bertie was born with a GORGEOUS big "buck" head.
Naturally she was dubbed "Big Bertha" or "Bertie" for short. She
has very good markings, excellent leg structure and full hindquarters.
She is one of the oldest does in the barn. Unfortunately she
is the last remaining daughter of my Tommy D herdsire in my barn and I'm not
sure how much longer she'll keep having litters.

Daphne
Black Sr. Doe
Winnings: 9
legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record or show record
|
I liked Daphne right away. She has great substance to
her body- a good solid bone structure balanced with lovely, compact
type. She has a nice doe head with a good ear on her. She has had
a great show career, but has now retired to motherhood. Her babies tend
to have the same good head and ear with nice bone structure. I am pleasantly
surprised that she throws very nice blues!

Hume's
Gwen
Black Sr. Doe
Winnings:
9 legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record or show record
|
Gwen is a sharp looking doe with beautiful type. Great
hindquarters and solid shoulders. She has nice markings, except
a slight hook into one mouth. Gwen has had an outstanding show career
with three Best in Show wins in three different states. Very proud of
this girl! Her babies have done well on the show table, but she herself
keeps finding her way back to the show table once in awhile!

Knieling's KB32
(Scarlett)
Black Sr. Doe
Winnings: 3
legs of G.C.
View pedigree,
offspring record or show record
|
The last thing I needed was another black brood doe, but
I just couldn't pass Scarlett up! Gene Knieling of Oregon put her in
the seller's class at NDS 2010. Her sire is a buck he bought from me
and her dam is a Tommy D doe that I had admired in the seller's class a
few years back. Scarlett has a great body and a slick coat of fur. I think
she will have no problem fitting in with my herd!

Bowers' B72 (Jett)
Black Jr. Doe
View pedigree
|
These days with my work schedule I don't always make it
to the shows, but as long as I get everything around, my parents are more
than willing to show my rabbits for me. Julie, my setp-mom, told me that
Janet Bowers had a really typey black doe for sale at a show I wasn't at.
Janet lives close by, so we visited her rabbitry and I just fell in love with
this doe's type and bone substance. I'd love to get some of Jett's bigger
body on some of my finer-boned blacks when she is old enough to start breeding!

Hume's
Brit
Blue
Sr. Doe
Winnings:
10 legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record or show record
|
Brit is a real pretty girl. She had a strong show career,
and is now a breeding doe. She is one of those rabbits that takes
on both her dam and her sire's best characteristics, and is exactly
the type I look for on my Dutch. Her markings are overall pretty good,
one low cheek. Motherhood suits her, and she is an easy breeder.

Hume's Dove
Blue
Sr. Doe
Winnings:
4 legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record or show record
|
Dove is the first really pretty doe I have gotten
out of my favorite blue buck, Blue. She is a very good combination
of her mother and father's traits. Overall well-marked, with
good bone and leg structure. She's done her part on the show table
and she was such a step in the right direction, that she has replaced
her mother as a brood doe. Dove was the dam of the 2010 open NDS BOV Blue
winner!

Hume's
Destiny
Blue Sr. Doe
Winnings:
2 legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record
or show record
|
Destiny is a big-bodied doe with a great head and
ear on her. She also has a very good quality coat on her. She didnt
get much of a show career because I was in such deserate need of blue
brood does that I bred her as soon as she was old enough. I look forward
to seeing if I can combine her width and shoulder structure with the height
of my blue bucks.

B & J's Bubbly
Blue Sr. Doe
Winnings:
1 leg of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record
or show
record
|
I really needed a new blue brood doe, and I have really
liked the looks of Briony Barnes of Kansas' rabbits. She has had good
luck crossing her line into mine, so I thought I'd try too. Bubbly
has some marking flaws, but she has a lovely topline and a nice shoulder
on her, something I need more of in my blues. I am excited to incorporate
her into my herd! You'll have to excuse her picture, she was over three
weeks pregnant and had put on quite a bit of weight! I will try to get
a new one soon.

Hume's Tawny
Gray
Sr. Doe
Winnings:
10 legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring record or
show record
|
Tawny was my first really nice gray out of my gold/gray
cross. She has beautiful surface color and ring definition. Her topline
is superb, and she has great hindquarters. I wish her head was a little
wider, but other than that I really can't say anything bad about her.
She has great markings and has done excellent on the show table. She
is both a brood doe and she is on the show table when she is in condition!

Blythe/Stelzer
K502 (Rita)
Gray
Sr. Doe
Winnings:
Unknown
View pedigree or offspring record
|
I bought "Rita" at the 2006 ARBA Convention
from breeder Rita Stelzer of South Dakota. She is a massive doe that
pushes the weight limit, but she has awesome hindquarters, something
my gray bucks lack. She usually has huge litters and crosses well
on every buck I've bred her to so far. She continually outproduces
herself and throws OUTSTANDING babies both gray and steel (when bred to
a black). In her older age, she is harder to breed, but I don't mind keeping
her around anyway!

Katie's
Dar
Gold Sr. Doe
View pedigree or offspring record
|
I finally decided to toy around with a gold to try
to brighten up and distinguish the bands on my ring color for my grays.
Dar hails from the Bickelhaupt barn in Ohio. She has some major marking
flaws, a tied elbow and two split stops, but her type and gorgeous head
make up for it. She has a wonderful personality and is a favorite for many
people. And her babies are beautiful as well!

McKinley's
463G (Ellen)
Gray Sr. Doe
Winnings:
3 legs of G.C.
View pedigree or offspring record
|
Longtime Michigan breeder, Ed McKinley, was having an
auction to sell his rabbits. Ed is known for his lovely grays, and
I wanted a new gray doe. I had to work, but sent my parents with a
strict list of what to look for in rabbits. They brought me home 3
gray does, and Ellen was my favorite in body. She is older, but I have
had no problem getting her bred everytime I try! Ellen has 3
legs recorded by her former owner.

McKinley's
485G (Emma)
Gray Sr. Doe
Winnings:
Unknown
View pedigree or offspring record
|
Emma is another doe I got from Ed McKinley's sale. She
is a nice doe overall. Well-marked, nice type and color. She's older,
but an easy breeder. I have been beyond thrilled with her babies;
they are super typey with lovely substance of body and great color.
Great head and ears as well. I am so glad to have been lucky enough to
add this doe to my gray herd!

Hume's Cecelia
Gray Sr. Doe
Winnings: 7 legs
of G.C.

Cecelia is a really typey doe with great gray color and
ring definition. She has always done very well on the show table but
now I am really excited to use her in my breeding program, her first babies
are looking promising!

Hume's Neve
Steel Sr. Doe
Winnings: 7
legs of G.C.
View pedigree, offspring
record or show record
|
Neve is such a nice looking doe, very good type with an
excellent coat of fur. She was having an exceptional show career when
I accidently left a carrier unlatched at a show and her brother hopped
the divider and bred her. Her babies are actually quite nice and against
everything I have said, I have decided to keep her on as a brood doe. But
in the meantime, I am hoping she will be making a few more appearances
on the show table!
